After several unsuccessful nights, the Migratlane team finally succeeded in capturing a short-eared owl in Audierne Bay, followed by two more in Finistère near Saint Pabu. One of them, a female, made a round trip across the Channel in the space of 2 days! It often flew below 300m altitude and up to 802 m above sea level at speeds of between 40 and 50km/h, peaking at 76km/h. This information is invaluable to the program, which focuses on the sea movements of birds, and in particular their flight altitudes.
